INFORMATION ON GETTING HERE
Dear Visitors,
The Festival for German Unity Day will attract many people, all coming to the beautiful state capital, Schwerin, to enjoy the festivities. The city has limited capacity for car parking and cars searching for parking spaces. With this in mind, we kindly request that you come here on public transport or by bicycle if possible. This will take the pressure off the traffic situation, protect the environment and relieve stress.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
NVS, the public transport operator in Schwerin, will be running a special timetable for the three days of the event. At certain times throughout the day, trains and buses with a greater capacity will be operating and service frequency will be increased at peak times.
Some stops along the Werderstraße – Graf-Schack-Allee event route will be cancelled. The central stops at Marienplatz and the main railway station will operate as usual.
Details of the stops and the special timetable can be found on the NVS website
https://www.nahverkehr-schwerin.de/de/neuigkeiten/sonderfahrplaene-tag-der-deutschen-einheit.html
or in the app
Train services
Information on Deutsche Bahn train services can be found in the current timetables. Deutsche Bahn will also be operating special trains (ICE) from Berlin. The current construction work and restrictions on the services to Hamburg and Berlin will be optimised as far as possible by Deutsche Bahn for German Unity Day; additional services and later departure times are planned.
ODEG is also planning extended services for the regional trains, especially on the public holiday on 3 October.
For details of the services available, please check the current timetables on the operators’ websites.
