SAXONY AT THE FESTIVAL OF GERMAN UNITY
“Simply Saxony”. We present the European Capital of Culture 2025: Chemnitz. This flagship cultural event is being held in Chemnitz and the Ore Mountain region in 2025 and is set to become Germany’s uncontested cultural highlight. A small exhibition of artworks and a lively programme provides a tempting taste of what’s to come.
On the 3rd of October, the Bernsdorf Youth Wind Orchestra, the Saxonia Mining Music Corps and the Historical Freiberg Mining and Metallurgy Miners’ Association will be performing at the stand, followed by a musical parade around the festival grounds and a miners’ parade with a commentary. This showcase of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohorí mining region lets visitors experience living World Heritage. The stage programme comes courtesy of Peter Till’s Druckluftorchester, an utterly unique ensemble of mechanical musical apparatuses. We’re also expecting guests from the Zipfelbund, including a big band from Görlitz and the Alphornbläser from Oberstdorf in Bavaria.
